I love old barns and this one was def different from most of the ones that we see around here.. I wish I could have gotten closer to it, but I would have had to walk right though someones back yard and I figured I better not.. they might think I was a nut

This is something of a gray area,
but the barn owner could conceivably
make a claim against any commercial gain
you might receive from this photo.
I'm not saying the claim
would necessarily be successful,
but it is private property.
In these situations,
if you plan on using the image commercially,
a signed release would be most helpful.
This highlights an ability a photographer
needs to develop beyond f-stops,
shutterspeed and composition:
a reliable procedure for obtaining releases.
In most cases, a simple promise
to provide a copy of the photo(s)
in return for the release
is sufficient compensation.
